It was a dark and stormy night. A cold November rain and pitch black didn't keep a group of dedicated patriots inside their homes. But what a difference a month makes!
Newt Gingrich ran away with the straw poll on November 16, 2011 that was held at the regular meeting of the Lakes Region Tea Party. There was a very good turnout of about 25 people at the meeting and a handful of members voted by absentee ballot. We're grateful to the Moultonborough Public Library for allowing us to use their very nice meeting room.
Here are the results:
- Gingrich 16
- Paul 5
- Cain 5
- Romney 4
- Bachmann 1
- Santorum 1
- Undecided 1
- Huntsman 0
- Johnson 0
- Perry 0
You can actually watch the entire meeting at the LRTP Channel on Ustream if you want. The straw poll happens in the last 15 minutes of the recording.
We are going to be inviting Newt to come speak to us. My guess is that when that happens, he'll pick up even more support from our group.
As Kenny Chesney said in his hit song, "Only Time Will Tell, But It Ain't Talkin'."

I watched John Huntsman on MoJoe this morning. I think he knocked the cover off the ball. Good thing Joe was off so guests can complete their sentence. Interesting strategic thinking on Huntsman part, create the game changing event at the right time. IF.....Huntsman could win NH, he would immediately becomes the front-runner. As we have seen, much smaller events have lifted less qualified candidates in a matter of days.
